Xinjiang hotels for foreign visitors: what to confirm

Confirm the exact property, not a hotel category

Send the exact hotel name, branch, address, dates and passport nationality to the hotel or proposed operator. Ask for a dated reply covering passport check-in and residence registration. A booking-platform label or an old review is not a substitute for the property’s reply about your stay.

The official visitor guide says hotels can handle residence registration using a valid passport or other accepted travel document. This general process does not verify any individual property on our suggested routes.

Room details to put in the quote

• Beds and occupancy: twin or double, number of rooms, and whether a child needs an extra bed.
• Facilities: private bathroom, heating or air conditioning, lift or stairs, and any step-free access you need.
• Meals and timing: breakfast availability before an early departure, late-arrival check-in and checkout time.
• Payment: included room nights, deposit, payment method, cancellation deadline and who pays for any substitute.

A message you can send before booking

“We plan to stay at [hotel and branch] on [dates], with [number of adults/children] using [nationality] passports. Can you confirm passport check-in and residence registration for this stay? We need [beds/facilities] and expect to arrive at [time, Beijing time]. Please confirm the room, breakfast, deposit, cancellation deadline and a contact for arrival problems.”

If the hotel cannot confirm your stay

Ask for a named alternative in the same overnight town, with the same room requirements checked again. For a mountain itinerary, changing towns can also change driving time and altitude exposure. Resolve that with the route plan before accepting a substitute. Keep the confirmation and Chinese address available offline.
